About the Role
The purpose of this role is to support the Manager Risk & Assurance to provide independent objective assurance and advice on the performance of Biosecurity New Zealand’s systems of risk and control. The Senior Assurance Adviser will audit, assess and implement high quality reviews of the biosecurity system.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Providing independent assurance and advice on the performance of Biosecurity systems of governance, risk and control
- Identifying issues and implementing effective solutions to business operations and processes
- The creation of high quality reviews, assessment and audits within Biosecurity New Zealand’s systems
- Working closely with the Manager Risk & Assurance and Biosecurity New Zealand Leadership Team to develop, inform and deliver a assurance work plan.
About You
We are looking for an excellent communicator (both written and verbal) who is eager and ready to take action in this exciting opportunity.
Strong people skills coupled with analytical, inquisitive thinking and problem-solving skills are key aspects of this role and our ideal candidate must demonstrate this. You may come from an adjacent government agency or have a successful background in private sector in providing robust assurance services.
Our new adviser will be confident in their ability to lead stakeholders through the assurance process in a professional manner with a humble approach. Our ideal candidate will also:
- Hold a relevant tertiary qualification with a professional qualification such as Chartered Accountant or Certified Internal Audit
- Have At least 5-10 years’ experience preferably across a range of organisations/ industries
- Be experienced in data analytics and data analytics tools
- Have extensive experience in risk management and governance
- Be willing to listen, learn and work effectively within a close-knit team
