New Zealand is seeing a rise in Covid-19 cases being caught at the border, and with that rise, comes risk.
On Thursday, 43 border-related cases of Covid-19 were reported, up from 23 the day prior. In comparison, there were 19 new community cases announced on Thursday.
Professor Michael Plank, from the University of Canterbury’s School of Mathematics and Statistics, and a principal investigator at Te Pūnaha Matatini, said it’s not surprising we’re seeing an increase in cases in our managed isolation and quarantine facilities due to the quick spread of the Omicron variant around the world.
