Everyone will be eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine from September 1 and the gap between doses will be doubled to six weeks, the Government has announced.
A sped-up vaccine plan has come in response to expert advice released on Wednesday from the Strategic Covid-19 Public Health Advisory Group, led by Professor Sir David Skegg, which gave recommendations on how New Zealand can reconnect with the world amidst the pandemic.
“From today, we are moving to a six-week period between doses, meaning more people can get their first dose quicker and ensuring everybody is at least partially vaccinated in the coming months,” Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told a forum in Wellington on Thursday.
